(english text below) Temat med flyktingar i Europa fortsätter med en tavla på Sädesärlan (titel: Migrantens soluppgång?) – en av få svenska flyttfåglar som övervintrar i bl a Mellanöstern. Jag tror säkert att ni hänger med i vad jag vill förmedla med tavlan. Taggtråd längst med EUs gränser och brist på föda, därmed taggtråd som matas till de unga (det finns fler tankar i den delen av tavlan också). Att fly från krig är dock ett sätt att gå vidare och att resa till något nytt. Aurorafjärilen symboliserar det nya, men jag låter er själva klura ut den specifika kopplingen som fjärilen har till ordet “soluppgången” i titeln. Med den andra tavlan på fåglar har jag inte samma djupa meddelande att förmedla. Tunnan (för svagdricka) där blåmesen bygger bo kommer från Dalby (En by i Lunds kommun) och bryggeriet A.J. som fanns där vid sekelskiftet – jag hade släkt som bodde i byn och jobbade som skräddare. Dalby är nu en populär plats att bo på och man kan nog säga att den har genomgått en viss gentrifiering sedan min släkt bodde där!

The theme of immigration and refugees continues with the painting of the White Wagtail (title: the Immigrants Sunrise?) – one of few Swedish migratory birds that spends the winter in the Middle east. I think you can see what I am trying to portray in the painting – barbed wire along the borders of the EU and lack of food for the refugee children (there are lots of other messages in this part of the painting…). Escaping from war is a way of starting afresh, this is symbolised by the Orange tip butterfly (in Swedish: the Aurora butterfly), however I will let you work out for yourselves what the significance of this specific butterfly has to the paintings title! With the other painting I have chosen to portray the Blue-tit moving in to an old keg from a (since many years ago) closed down Swedish brewery. The village where the brewery once was found has gone through a certain amount of gentrification the last 30 years and is now a popular place to live.
